Wednesday 16th May 2012 – windsurfing ***** sunny :)

Woke up to the beautiful view and it is still windy – was windy all night in fact. After exercises and breakfast went back to La Franqui (made a Belgium speedsailors day when I gave him back his weight jacket found on the beach yesterday) and I decided it wasn’t windy enough for his speed gear as Jacque was out with 6.4 and the forecast was for the wind to drop :( so got the big board off and rigged the 7m. I then sailed all day probably the best ever day at La Franqui trying to top my longboard record which I did with a peak of 32.73 and missed a 30kt 500m by 0.20 of a knot:( Being on the raceboard meant I could sail all the way into La Franqui and sail back with no problem and some of my best runs were sailing back in the waves!!! I got some interesting looks as not many longboards get sailed here and one sailor thought I was on a tandem having lost my partner on the way!!! It’s good to see you can sail all the way to La Franqui at the moment without hitting the bottom – just!!! Will love to give the bigboard another go even if it is a pain getting it onto the roof of the van again – luckily the wind died in the afternoon making it abit easier:) Could have done with a fraction more wind for a 30 kt 500m and would love to get to 35kt peak!!!
Mag read her book sitting on board bag on the beach and leaning on the van in the sun. We drove to Les Coussoules at La Franqui for the night and although no internet it was a nice free place to park. Just over the dunes from the big beach which we were on earlier – it’s just a few miles up the same beach but takes 10 miles to get round. Went for a walk on the beach after tea and the mozzies were biting well! Our repellent has run out.
